In my work with individuals I provide a warm and supportive space to feel connected and free to share your story openly. I help you to make sense of your world and build new insight into who you are and what you need. I tend to be a pretty straightforward communicator while remaining warm and caring, and like to be able to laugh in sessions where appropriate.
I work with a wide range of client issues including anxiety, panic, OCD, depression, life transitions, loneliness and trauma. I prefer a proactive approach which provides structure for creating gradual, intentional change. I help you to dream of the life you want to be living and to provide a sense of accountability for moving in the directions you want and getting unstuck. I also teach strategies for emotional regulation and distress tolerance in order to respond to life’s difficulties more productively. I utilize mindfulness as an evidence-based practice for learning to live with greater presence and peace, and experiencing more joy.
I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat symptoms of trauma, which can range from very serious to more subtle experiences that continue to impact your life. EMDR can serve as a targeted and intensified form of therapy that addresses trauma or or adverse experiences directly at the source. It can be quite an emotional journey.
